Sindh Approves Rs. 25 Billion Plan to Rebuild Karachi’s Major Roads

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved a massive Rs. 25 billion plan to repair and rebuild Karachi’s deteriorating road network. Chairing a meeting at CM House, he directed authorities to begin work immediately, noting that damaged roads are worsening traffic congestion. Officials briefed him that 315 internal streets require urgent upgrades, and the CM approved the full package, instructing that drainage and sewerage systems be rebuilt alongside roadwork to avoid monsoon damage.The plan also includes reconstruction of 60 major arteries with coordinated utility work to prevent repeated digging. Updates on mega projects were also shared: Korangi Causeway Bridge is 80% complete, Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway 78%, the Port Qasim–M9 link road will open by late 2025, and the long-delayed Kareemabad Underpass is 85% complete. The CM said these efforts will significantly improve urban mobility across Karachi.
