Peshawar Goes Green With Electric Rickshaws

The Planning and Development (P&D) Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved plans to introduce electric rickshaws (e-rickshaws) in Peshawar, marking a major step toward green and sustainable urban transport. During a Project Steering Committee meeting chaired by Secretary Adeel Shah, officials discussed the project’s progress, infrastructure requirements, and strategy for effective rollout.
The initiative aims to reduce air pollution, cut fuel dependency, and offer residents a cleaner and more affordable transport alternative. The meeting was attended by representatives from the P&D Department, Transport Department, and other relevant agencies. Once operational, the e-rickshaw project will make Peshawar among the first Pakistani cities to adopt eco-friendly public mobility solutions at scale.
