Karachi: Pakistan received a Qatari LNG cargo at Port Qasim on August 10, 2026, after the vessel Al Areesh faced disruption linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Port Qasim Authority’s official shipping record shows Al Areesh arriving at 11:30am, carrying a manifest quantity of approximately 141,537 cubic metres of LNG, and scheduled to berth at the Pakistan GasPort terminal. Arab News, citing a Port Qasim Authority spokesperson, reported that the QatarEnergy-controlled tanker had exited the Strait of Hormuz on July 30 but was diverted on July 31 amid heightened regional tensions. The cargo was supplied under Pakistan’s government-to-government LNG arrangement with Qatar and provides an additional supply for the country’s gas and energy requirements.
