Lahore: Heavy rain across the city has left several main roads and commercial areas under water, with Kareem Block Main Market facing severe water accumulation. According to citizens, around two to two-and-a-half feet of rainwater has gathered in the market area, affecting traffic flow and creating major difficulties for motorcyclists, car drivers, pedestrians, and shopkeepers. Several motorcycles reportedly stalled while passing through the water, while rainwater also entered shops, including mobile phone and clothing businesses, damaging goods and disrupting trade. Citizens also raised concerns over electric poles standing near accumulated water, creating a safety risk. The situation has once again highlighted the need for better drainage planning. Can Lahore’s drainage system be improved before the next heavy spell?
