Green Town green belt loses space to encroachments

Lahore: In Green Town, the area’s green belt has reportedly lost its original character due to administrative negligence and widespread encroachments. Residents say illegal parking stands, pushcarts, and stalls have been established on the green belt, while tree cutting has made way for rickshaw, Qingqi, and even truck stands. Garbage piles in several spots are creating foul smell and increasing health risks. Locals say nearby shopkeepers and residents are dumping waste, but the administration has failed to take effective action on cleanliness and encroachment removal. The issue matters because public green spaces improve urban livability, traffic flow, air quality, and property surroundings. Can timely action restore Green Town’s green belt and civic environment?
