Lahore: Punjab is accelerating large-scale shrimp farming projects under its Blue Economy Programme to convert barren land into productive economic assets. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed progress at key sites including Sargodha, Ali Wala, and Shah Garh, where hundreds of ponds, drainage systems, and infrastructure facilities are nearing completion. Officials confirmed favourable conditions for shrimp cultivation, with modern techniques improving yield quality to international standards. This initiative under the Land, Agriculture & Tourism Cluster reflects a strong Government Policy aimed at boosting exports, creating jobs, and enhancing land productivity. For Punjab and Lahore stakeholders, such projects can open new investment avenues and strengthen the agro-economy. Will shrimp farming become Punjab’s next big export sector?
