Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting on energy security, emphasizing its critical role in Pakistan’s long-term planning. He highlighted that timely measures and energy conservation have helped avoid a crisis amid the current regional situation. The Prime Minister directed authorities to gradually transition transport systems towards electric vehicles (EVs) and accelerate the establishment of EV charging infrastructure nationwide. He also instructed continued work on strategic petroleum reserves and promoting solar energy storage solutions through accessible battery systems. The government aims to encourage local manufacturing of high-quality batteries to ensure sustainable energy supply and strengthen national energy resilience.
