Punjab begins mega underground water tank project at Housing Secretariat

Lahore: The Punjab Housing Department has initiated construction of a mega underground groundwater storage tank near Chuburji Chowk to address urban flooding and water management issues. Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin and Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal visited the site, where officials stated that the tank will have a capacity of one million gallons along with 20 cusecs pumping machinery. The project also includes development of a parking area above the tank. Authorities highlighted that the initiative will benefit residents of surrounding areas by reducing water accumulation on key roads. Officials added that multiple underground tanks are already functional in Lahore, with additional projects underway to improve drainage and urban infrastructure.
