Maryam Nawaz announces free public transport, fuel subsidy in Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major relief package amid rising fuel prices, offering free public transport across the province. Services including Orange Line Train, Metro Bus, Speedo, and electric buses will operate without fares to reduce commuting costs for citizens. In addition, a fuel subsidy has been introduced for motorcycle riders, with registered users in Lahore receiving Rs 100 subsidy on 20 litres of petrol. Farmers have also been included in the package, with Rs 100 per litre diesel subsidy per acre announced to support agricultural activities. Authorities have encouraged citizens to shift towards public transport to reduce fuel burden, emphasizing continued support during challenging economic conditions.
