PRA vigilance wing fines food chains Rs 4m over record irregularities

Lahore: Acting on the directions of Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Muazzam Iqbal Sapra, the PRA vigilance wing has intensified monitoring of food chains at motorway rest areas. During inspections at Sukheki and Bhera service areas, authorities found irregularities in the sales records of five well-known food chains. Officials reported discrepancies in declared sales and the use of fake receipts, leading to fines amounting to Rs 4 million. Several outlets were also issued notices for not properly using the EIMS system. A PRA spokesperson said the vigilance wing will continue strict monitoring of major restaurants and food brands to ensure tax compliance. Citizens have been advised to always obtain an e-bill after making payments.
