Punjab approves Rs 56bn for major infrastructure and health projects

Lahore: The Punjab Planning and Development Board has approved development schemes worth Rs 56bn in its 65th Provincial Development Working Party meeting for the fiscal year 2025-26. The projects include Rs 3.8bn for a signal-free corridor on Samundri Road and an underpass at D-Type Chowk, Rs 6.1bn for Sahiwal-Arifwala road construction, Rs 9bn for rehabilitation of Sahiwal-Bahawalnagar road, Rs 8.7bn for agricultural development in Potohar, Rs 2.4bn for Multan Metro Bus depot and command centre, and Rs 25bn for 200-bed mother and child hospitals in Attock, Bahawalnagar, and Layyah. The meeting was chaired by Dr Naeem Rauf, focusing on strengthening infrastructure, transport, healthcare, and regional connectivity across Punjab.
