LAHORE: Ground Two of the National Hockey Stadium, one of the busiest hockey grounds in Lahore, has deteriorated to a critical condition, raising serious safety concerns for players. The artificial turf is badly damaged at multiple points, particularly in the D-area and goalkeeper zone, which has reportedly remained in poor condition for nearly 12 years. Water seepage has further worsened the turf, increasing the risk of injuries during play. Despite repeated assurances, no practical repair or stitching work has been carried out. Stadium shades are also broken, while washroom facilities near the ground are largely non-functional, with only one usable restroom available. Players and hockey officials have urged the Punjab government to immediately repair and rehabilitate Ground Two to support the revival and safety of Pakistan’s national sport.
