The Government of Punjab has announced a phased initiative to convert 256 government schools to solar energy, aiming to ensure uninterrupted educational activities and reduce dependence on conventional power. According to the School Education Department Punjab, higher secondary schools will be prioritized, with 15 schools in Lahore included in the first phase. The project will deliver a total generation capacity of 5,515 kilowatts, promoting renewable energy adoption and long-term cost efficiency. Officials say the move will support sustainable development in the education sector, lower electricity expenses, and provide a more stable learning environment for students across Punjab, reflecting the government’s broader clean energy commitment.
