The Government of Punjab has approved Rs2.5 billion to strengthen development schemes under the Chief Minister Punjab Development Program (PDP) across 20 cities. Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafiq reviewed ongoing projects and emphasized implementation in line with directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The program includes large-scale municipal upgrades such as sewerage networks, paved streets with tiles, new and upgraded disposal stations to control urban flooding, and a shift to solar-powered facilities to cut energy costs. Planning also accounts for population needs through 2050, with underground water storage tanks planned to improve groundwater recharge and water reuse. Authorities stated that e-bidding will ensure transparency and timely execution across participating cities.
