Kalba: Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has approved the plan for the Al Freish Lake project in Kalba. The lake will cover about 51,200 square metres and is designed to store up to 28 million gallons of water. Around 200 parking spaces are also planned for visitors. Sharjah Media Office
The lake will be located behind Al Marsh Square and is planned to extend for roughly 750 metres. The surrounding area is being developed as a family recreation destination, with mountain landscaping, tree planting, waterfalls, walking areas and spaces where visitors can stop and spend time outdoors. Gulf News reports that the wider leisure development will also include family seating areas, water activities and a 2.6-kilometre vehicle track around the lake. Gulf News
Important: the plan has been approved and work is under way on parts of the surrounding area, but the lake project should not be presented as already completed or open to visitors.
