Rs8 billion renovation plan proposed for historic Alfalah Building on Lahore’s Mall Road

Lahore: A major renovation and redevelopment plan for the historic Alfalah Building located on Lahore’s Mall Road has once again come under consideration. According to sources, the project has been prepared by the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) and presented to the government. The proposed plan suggests that if around Rs8 billion in funding is approved, the building can undergo complete restoration and modern redesign. The project includes renovation of both the interior and exterior structure, along with the construction of a new 7 to 8-storey tower as an additional section of the building. Authorities also plan to upgrade the basement parking to accommodate more than 200 vehicles. The project funding has been requested in two phases, with Rs6 billion for the first phase and Rs2 billion for the second. The cinema hall inside the building is also proposed to be modernized. Due to the building’s proximity to the Punjab Assembly, special security considerations are also being included in the planning.
