Rawalpindi: The Rs47 billion Rawalpindi Ring Road has missed its sixth completion deadline, after the latest August 14 target passed without the road opening to traffic. The 38.3-kilometre main route from Banth Mor on GT Road towards Thallian has been completed, but unfinished toll booths and the electronic tolling system are holding back operations. Four of the five interchanges — Banth, Chakbeli Khan, Adiala and Chakri — have been completed, while work at Thallian Interchange remains unfinished. Once the remaining toll infrastructure is completed, the project is expected to be transferred to the Punjab Ring Road Authority and opened for traffic.
