Punjab to Transform 485 Villages into Model Communities by December, 7,500 More Planned

Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique chaired a review meeting of the Model Village Programme and said the initiative is progressing under the supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to the briefing, development work in 40 villages across different tehsils will be completed this month, while 485 villages are planned to be transformed during the first phase by December. The programme includes paved streets, streetlights, children’s parks and essential municipal services aimed at improving living standards in rural communities. The Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company is implementing the projects according to the approved timeline. The government also plans to gradually expand the programme, with 7,500 additional villages expected to be selected in the next phase.
