Punjab Tightens Crackdown on Smoke-Emitting Vehicles

The Punjab Transport & Mass Transit Department has intensified its province-wide crackdown on smoke-emitting and unfit vehicles as part of anti-smog actions. According to the latest report, 21,788 vehicles were inspected in Lahore from November 1 to 30. A total of 3,067 vehicles without fitness certificates or emitting excessive smoke were challaned, while 1,831 were impounded. Additionally, 2,476 goods transport vehicles were fined for overloading. Overall penalties reached Rs. 30 million, with 460 FIRs registered and 413 drivers arrested. The report states that 11,000 vehicles underwent fitness inspections in Lahore, out of which 7,000 met the required standards and received fitness certificates. Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan directed stricter action, stating that no leniency will be shown toward those risking public health. #AntiSmogDrive #PunjabTransport
