Lahore: The Punjab government has suspended the Green Certificate system for six months following concerns raised in the Punjab Assembly. Provincial Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said several issues had emerged during its implementation. Opposition Leader Rana Aftab Ahmed raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the land record system and questioned the effectiveness of the Green Certificate. Other lawmakers highlighted errors in land ownership records and the absence of an effective one-window mechanism for property transactions. The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly also questioned the government’s authority to suspend a system approved by the assembly, stressing that the legislature should be involved in such decisions.
