Punjab Sales Tax Raised from 5% to 8% Across Multiple Service Sectors

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has increased the provincial sales tax from 5% to 8% across multiple service sectors, including restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, food chains, and other food outlets. The new rate also applies to marriage halls, catering services, event management companies, travel and tour operators, rent-a-car services, fitness centers, apartment management services, property dealers, architectural services, warehouses, and cold storage facilities. Businesses have been instructed to update invoicing, billing, and tax systems immediately. The measure aims to expand the tax base, increase government revenue, and strengthen the province’s formal economy.
