Punjab: The Punjab government has intensified its crackdown against profiteers to ensure the availability of essential food items at official rates. According to Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr. Kiran Khurshid, over 208,000 inspections were carried out across the province in the last three days. During the operation, more than 1,500 violators were identified, 65 cases were registered and 1,075 individuals were arrested for overcharging. Authorities also imposed fines exceeding Rs5.5 million. Special inspections were conducted at chicken shops and grocery stores, where several violations were recorded, leading to additional arrests and penalties. Officials stated that strict monitoring and enforcement will continue even after Ramadan to maintain price stability and provide relief to citizens.
