Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved expansion of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) network to every district, according to the latest government tickers. The new plan also calls for seasonal plantation schedules, flowering plants, restoration of green belts and greater beautification of parks and public spaces across Punjab.
The expansion builds on an earlier government decision. In January 2026, an official APP report confirmed that 11 new PHAs had been established, taking the provincial total to 21, while the Chief Minister had sought a workable plan to extend PHAs across the province.
The latest briefing says the remaining 20 districts are targeted for PHA establishment by January 2027. Punjab currently has 41 districts, meaning completion of that target would create district-level PHA coverage across the province.
According to the supplied government tickers, 2,820 technical posts have also been approved for the expanded PHA structure. Each district is expected to have management and technical staff, while in-house nurseries are planned to provide lower-cost plants for tree plantation and seasonal flowers. A second phase would extend the model towards the tehsil level.
