Punjab launches pilot Violation Detection System for construction

Lahore: Punjab has initiated a pilot system to monitor commercial construction activities through the Violation Detection System (VDS). The test run, inaugurated by Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, involves training relevant staff and using satellite monitoring to detect construction violations. Officials confirmed that VDS will integrate with e-biz and e-construction portals, covering residential, agricultural, and industrial zones digitally for the first time in Punjab. Initial testing in Sahiwal and Sialkot yielded encouraging results, and a broader test run is now underway across the remaining nine divisions. The system aims to curb unplanned and illegal construction while improving governance efficiency and public oversight.
