Punjab launches PAK-ID app for online vehicle ownership verification

Lahore: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has launched the PAK-ID app to enable online biometric verification for vehicle registration and transfer, benefiting both local and overseas Pakistanis. Developed in collaboration with NADRA Technologies and the Punjab Information Technology Board, the system allows vehicle owners to complete ownership verification through biometric and facial recognition without visiting embassies or excise offices. Officials said the initiative eliminates affidavits, manual verification and power-of-attorney requirements, ensuring transparency and reducing delays. Vehicle transfer fees are already processed through a cashless E-Pay system, with ownership transfers completed within 48 hours. Authorities described the move as a major step toward digital governance and improved service delivery across Punjab.
