The Punjab government has introduced a dedicated fleet for women in Lahore Metro Bus Service by deploying five Speedo buses on the Metro route. The initiative aims to provide women with safer, more comfortable, and harassment-free public transport during peak hours. According to Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, the decision was implemented immediately on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to improve commuting facilities for female passengers. He added that the government plans to purchase additional Metro buses in the near future, replacing the temporary Speedo buses dedicated to women. The initiative is expected to reduce overcrowding and enhance the overall travel experience for women using Lahore’s public transport network.
