Punjab Boosts Climate Budget to Rs.123 Billion At COP30 in Brazil, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the smog control budget has been raised from Rs. 94 billion to Rs. 123 billion, emphasizing climate resilience as Punjab’s top priority. She shared that Punjab is turning waste into fuel, expanding the Clean Air & E-Mobility Vision, and launching 1,500 electric buses across 42 cities. The province is also building 100 air quality stations, a Climate Observatory in Lahore, and promoting climate-smart farming. Maryam Nawaz stated that climate change is no longer a forecast but a living reality, calling for global cooperation. She said Punjab’s green initiatives — from clean energy to wildlife protection — are shaping a model of sustainable governance in South Asia.
