Lahore: The Punjab government has started installing RCC pipe plants in five cities under the Punjab Development Program (PDP) to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve rainwater management. Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafiq said the project will help support the construction of 324 water storage tanks across various cities to control urban flooding and improve water storage capacity. The pipe plants are initially being installed in Wazirabad, Sahiwal/Sargodha, Kamalia, Lodhran and Ferozewala, with more plants planned to maintain supply lines. Officials stated that lined pipes with an estimated lifespan of up to 100 years will be used in the projects. The initiative aims to ensure better drainage systems, promote rainwater storage and improve infrastructure in multiple cities across Punjab.
