Punjab Approves Gujranwala Mass Transit System

PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has approved the Gujranwala Mass Transit Project during a meeting with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. The approval was granted in his capacity as party president. Nawaz Sharif remarked that the people of Gujranwala had long deserved a modern transport system and noted that such a project should have been completed years ago. He praised the Punjab government’s development work, saying the initiative would boost economic activity and improve public mobility. Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar briefed the meeting, stating that the mass transit system will span over 30 kilometers from Eminabad to Gakkhar and serve more than 51,000 passengers daily. The project will deploy 40 electric articulated buses, offering a clean, reliable, and efficient travel option for one of Punjab’s largest cities.
