Punjab approves budget with no new taxes

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the provincial budget for fiscal year 2026-27 after receiving cabinet approval during a special session. The chief minister signed the budget document and praised the efforts of the finance team, senior ministers, and administrative officials involved in its preparation. According to the government, the budget focuses on public welfare, development, and relief measures without imposing any new taxes despite financial challenges and global economic pressures. The chief minister also directed the Punjab Revenue Authority to take further measures to enhance revenue collection. The budget is expected to support development projects, public services, and economic activity across the province.
