Punjab Approves Annual Grant for Electric Buses to Continue Operations in 18+ Cities

LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved an annual grant of Rs. 235.4 million to ensure uninterrupted operations of electric buses across Lahore and more than 18 other cities in the province. The decision follows a request by the Transport Department for subsidies and operational support. The Finance Department had already approved Rs. 99.5 million, while the remaining funds have now been released. Officials said the grant will cover operational costs, maintenance, and services to provide safe, modern, and comfortable public transport. The initiative aims to promote eco-friendly transportation, reduce air pollution, and expand the electric bus network across Punjab.
