Punjab Activates Four Modern Clean Water Bottling Plants Across Districts

The Punjab government has moved forward with a major clean drinking water initiative by making modern water bottling plants operational in Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. The facilities are aimed particularly at communities affected by contaminated or unsafe drinking water.

Under the programme, bottled drinking water will be transported through special trucks to affected and remote communities. Material shared through Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s official Facebook presence says construction of four water bottling plants has been completed and the initiative is designed to deliver 160,000 litres of clean water daily to underserved settlements free of cost.

Officials also stated that the Khushab bottling plant has the capacity to produce 50,000 water bottles per hour. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed district administrations to identify areas facing unsafe drinking water problems so that clean water supply measures can be targeted more effectively.
