Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the “Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Programme,” aimed at providing affordable housing to low and middle-income families across Pakistan. Under the scheme, eligible citizens can avail loans up to Rs10 million with a subsidized markup of 5% for the first 10 years and a repayment period of up to 20 years. The initiative targets construction of 500,000 homes over five years, with 50,000 units planned in the first year and Rs321 billion allocated. Officials stated the program will not only address housing shortages but also stimulate economic growth by supporting over 40 allied industries and generating employment opportunities nationwide.
