PIA to transfer to new owners by end of June

Islamabad: Pakistan is set to transfer Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to its new owners by the end of June after completing final legal and procedural steps. Privatization Adviser Muhammad Ali stated that most obstacles have been resolved following the airline’s December 2025 sale. A consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation acquired a 75% stake, with Fauji Fertilizer Company joining later. The agreement includes investment commitments aimed at reducing debt and modernizing operations. The government has also finalized regulatory approvals, tax matters, and legal amendments while continuing privatization and concession plans across aviation and energy sectors. Analysts suggest that timely completion of the transfer could improve operational efficiency, attract investment, and enhance Pakistan’s aviation sector performance.
