Peshawar: Construction on the Jameel Chowk Underpass is progressing under the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan after Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi laid the foundation stone on August 28, 2026. The project is being built on Peshawar Ring Road to improve traffic movement at the busy Jameel Chowk intersection.
Official PDA tender documents list the project as Package IV under the Ring Road traffic-hotspot programme, with an estimated construction cost of about Rs2.283 billion and an original contract time limit of 90 days.
At the groundbreaking, the Chief Minister publicly said the government wanted the project completed in 60 days, while Dawn reported the contractual completion period as 90 days. So 60 days should be treated as an accelerated government target, not the original contract duration.
The supplied social-media post says work has now “picked up strong pace.” That is consistent with the broader Revitalisation Plan’s rapid road-construction push, but I could not find a fresh official PDA progress percentage for Jameel Chowk specifically in the latest public project dashboard.
