Pakistan, Russia explore deeper railway cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the railway sector during a meeting between Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and the Russian Trade Counsellor. Discussions focused on investment opportunities, joint ventures, and the modernization of Pakistan Railways infrastructure. The minister highlighted that Pakistan offers significant potential for international participation in transport development projects and is actively seeking strategic partnerships. The Russian side also expressed confidence in strengthening institutional collaboration and long-term engagement. Enhanced railway connectivity can improve trade efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and support regional economic integration. Will stronger Pakistan-Russia cooperation accelerate infrastructure growth and attract new investment into Pakistan’s transport sector?
