Nepra has issued a notification announcing a 33 paisa per unit increase in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment mechanism, adding over Rs. 6 billion in additional financial burden on consumers. The hike applies to general consumers, government institutions, and K-Electric users, and will be charged in bills from December to February. The authority stated that the increase is linked to the adjustment for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, and the decision has been forwarded to the federal government for final approval.Separately, Nepra has also approved a one-time reduction of 88 paisa per unit for December bills. This relief applies to all DISCOs and K-Electric consumers except lifeline users and EV charging stations. Officials say the temporary relief is expected to ease winter expenses for ordinary consumers.
