Murree: A latest official update from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s verified social account says construction and rehabilitation of a 31.41-kilometre section of the Rawalpindi–Murree–Kashmir Road has been completed under the Murree Development Programme. The government says the upgraded road is intended to provide smoother and safer travel for residents and tourists travelling to and from Murree.
The project is part of a wider programme to improve Murree’s road network and tourism infrastructure. Earlier government reporting confirmed that the Rawalpindi–Murree–Kashmir corridor was being upgraded after decades, alongside other road projects in Murree and surrounding areas.
There is, however, an important status distinction. At a October 1 review meeting, officials still set October 31 as the deadline for wider RMK Road construction and expansion works, including road shoulders, streetlights, road furniture, footpaths and landslide-protection measures. This indicates that the 31.41km road construction/rehabilitation component can be reported as completed, while some associated corridor works may still be continuing.
