LESCO Suspends Solar Green Meter Installations

LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has imposed a temporary ban on the installation of solar green meters for consumers following directives from the Ministry of Energy. The move affects thousands of domestic and industrial users who were awaiting meter installation after investing in solar systems. Officials said that although NEPRA had earlier instructed power utilities to install solar green meters, the Ministry of Energy later ordered a halt to the process. As a result, LESCO has suspended all new solar green meter installations for an estimated period of one to two months. Authorities also confirmed that new solar connections have been stopped, and other power distribution companies across the country have taken similar action until a revised solar green meter policy is announced.
