Lahore to Get 40-Km Green Zone With 30 Parks

The Punjab government has approved an ambitious plan to develop a 40-kilometer Green Zone along the railway track stretching from Shahdara to Raiwind. The initiative aims to control pollution, enhance urban greenery, and provide new recreational facilities for Lahore’s residents. According to PHA Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed, tenders will be invited soon, and the project is expected to be completed within one and a half years. The Green Zone will feature 30 new parks of varying sizes, ranging from 3 kanals to 80 kanals, equipped with sports areas, fitness zones, children’s play spaces, and modern recreational facilities. The plan also includes extensive landscaping to create a continuous green corridor on both sides of the railway track, significantly improving Lahore’s environmental outlook.
