Karachi Green Line Project to Restart With New Stations

Work on the second phase of Karachi’s Green Line project is set to resume after PIDCL officials met Mayor Murtaza Wahab to resolve concerns raised by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. During the meeting, PIDCL briefed the mayor on a revised implementation plan, confirming that construction will restart immediately and be completed within one year. The updated design includes a 1.8-kilometer extension from Numaish Chowrangi to Municipal Park, featuring three new stations. KMC had halted the project in September, citing the absence of a required NOC and questioning PIDCL’s involvement in city developments. Officials also revealed that the extension will incorporate a Traffic Signal Priority system to improve BRT travel times. Ridership, currently at 80,000 daily, is expected to increase significantly once completed
