Free public transport sees massive uptake across Punjab

Lahore: Free public transport services introduced by the Punjab government have witnessed a significant surge in usage across major cities. Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar reviewed facilities at metro bus stations and interacted with passengers to assess the impact of the initiative. Commuters expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the relief provided amid rising fuel costs, with many shifting from private vehicles to public transport. Services including Metro Bus, Speedo, Orange Line Train, and electric buses are experiencing unusually high demand. Authorities have been directed to ensure smooth operations and promptly address passenger concerns in the field. Officials noted that the initiative is easing financial pressure on low- and middle-income groups while promoting efficient urban mobility.
