Dubai launches $1.2 million self-driving transport challenge

Dubai: Dubai has launched the $1.2 million Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport 2027 to accelerate innovation in smart mobility and future transport systems. The competition invites global technology companies, researchers, startups, and academic institutions to develop advanced solutions for safer, more efficient, and connected transportation networks. Organized under the theme “Smart Integrated Infrastructure,” the initiative supports Dubai’s strategic goal of making 25% of all mobility journeys self-driving by 2030. Registration for participants is now open, while finalists are expected to be announced in 2026 and winners in 2027. Experts believe such initiatives can drive smart city development, attract technology investment, and shape the future of urban mobility. Can Dubai become the global benchmark for autonomous transportation?
