Customs Islamabad seizes 10 smuggled vehicles worth Rs113.5 million

Islamabad: The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Islamabad has confiscated 10 smuggled vehicles and contraband goods worth more than Rs. 113.5 million during intelligence-based operations conducted since July 10, 2026. The seized vehicles reportedly include Toyota Camry, Land Cruiser, Prado, Prius, Wish, Passo, Suzuki Alto, and a Volkswagen. Customs teams also recovered foreign-brand cigarettes, tyres, cloth, dry figs, and other illegal goods. Officials say the campaign is aimed at disrupting organized smuggling networks, protecting local industries, increasing government revenue, and supporting Pakistan’s economy. Stronger enforcement can improve market fairness, tax collection, commercial confidence, and legal import activity. Can sustained customs action reduce smuggling pressure on Pakistan’s economy?
