Construction of Sindh Motorway to Start in Early 2026

Work on the Sukkur–Hyderabad–Karachi Motorway project is set to begin in early 2026 after securing financing for three sections and nearing agreements for the remaining two. The update was shared during a Senate Standing Committee meeting chaired by Senator Quratulain Marri. Officials from the National Highway Authority (NHA), Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Public-Private Partnership Authority confirmed that the revised PC-1 has been approved. Talks with the Saudi Fund for Development and the Islamic Development Bank are in the final stages. The committee commended progress but urged faster implementation to avoid further delays. It also reviewed PSDP fund releases, noting that despite Rs. 330 billion being authorized, actual spending remained low, slowing national project execution across sectors.
