CDA Begins Islamabad Expressway Road, Plans Blue Area-Style Commercial Hub

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority has started preliminary work on a new six-lane road along the eastern side of Islamabad Expressway, connecting Faizabad with Gulberg Green. The project includes a flyover linking the road with the expressway at Faizabad and an underpass near the Letrar Road–Khanna Bridge junction. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed CDA to accelerate construction while maintaining quality and transparency. The project was awarded to M/s Leimar at a bid reportedly 13 percent below the estimated Rs6 billion tender cost. CDA is also planning to earmark land alongside the corridor for a Blue Area-style commercial hub, where commercial plots may later be auctioned to generate revenue. Survey work has been completed, while site clearance and utility shifting are underway.
