Lahore: The Punjab government has allotted 2,000 free residential plots across 19 districts under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” program on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Provincial Minister Bilal Yaseen supervised the computerized balloting ceremony, where block and plot numbers were assigned to successful applicants.Beneficiaries belong to districts including Jhelum, Kasur, Okara, Attock, Bhakkar, Layyah, Lodhran, Sahiwal, Rajanpur, Vehari, Chiniot, Jhang, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sargodha, and Khushab. Three-marla plots have been distributed without any fee, and recipients will also be eligible for interest-free loans under the housing support scheme.Officials stated that more than 380,000 applications were received through the online portal, reflecting strong public interest. The government says the initiative aims to convert long-unutilized PHATA schemes into functional residential projects, ensuring affordable housing for low-income families including laborers, shopkeepers, drivers, and daily wage earners.
