About

Nayyar Ali Dada is a leading Pakistani architect known for culturally rooted modern design and landmark civic architecture, most notably Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore, which received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (1998). He trained at National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, has taught there since 1965, and is recognized for advancing heritage/conservation thinking in Pakistan (including being a founding member of the Lahore Conservation Society).

His work is widely associated with strong spatial discipline, local material sensibility (especially Lahore’s brick context), and public-building clarity—designs that “age well” and remain culturally legible.
National recognition includes Pride of Performance (1992) and later Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2018) among other honors.
