The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is the main institution that in charge of the planned development and control of Lahore. It was formed in the LDA Act, 1975, in place of Lahore Improvement Trust. The authority monitors the urban planning, development of housing and infrastructure and regulates construction in order to promote orderly and sustainable urban development.
LDA is also instrumental in the control of development standards, development of the number of public services and the implementation of large-scale urban projects in the city. These functionalities have enabled it to influence the physical development of Lahore and better infrastructure and planning systems and the management of the city as a whole. LDA operates on two specialized wings which are used to plan and coordinate planning, infrastructure and service delivery in the city. These are:
• Urban Development Wing
• Traffic Engineering Planning Agency (TEPA)
