The Karachi Development Authority (KDA), established in 1957 through the merger of Karachi Improvement Trust and Karachi Joint Water Board, is responsible for the planning and development of Karachi. Over time, its role has evolved to focus on urban planning, land development, housing schemes, and infrastructure management, supporting the city’s organized growth.
Following the establishment of specialized agencies for water supply and building control, KDA now manages core functions such as redevelopment, land acquisition, record management, and urban services including parks, anti encroachment, and system modernization through digitalization.
